That's disappointing to hear. Whenever I drive along there I think it would be a good spot to bike, with wide shoulders. The only time I've ridden on the highway was during the PGAMO, and obviously the road was shut down for cyclists.
I've ridden in Kelowna towards Vernon and back on a regular day. The shoulders were pretty wide, and I felt pretty safe until I got just past Winfield. Right after Lodge Road the shoulder disappeared and a semi came way too close for me. I stopped my ride, went back to Lodge Road, and then biked on the back roads for a bit before heading back to Kelowna.
