Felt good. I'm slow, and a bit wary of the road sections of my ride. Took me about 40 mins to travel just over 12km, due to numerous traffic stops and my generally slow pace.

My route takes me from around Macleod/Southland to the Elbow pathway, then into the downtown core. I could also take the Bow River pathway (would be about 20km in distance though) and would avoid quite a bit of the road portion. I'm almost thinking it might be worth it, at least maybe when my legs are better and I can keep a better pace. I don't really want to take much longer than 45 mins to commute, if possible.

The road path through there is pretty good.

5th ave / Hardon Rd are relatively stop free and low traffic especially if you Idaho the 4 way stops. They even installed convenient buttons to push for the cross walk at 5th and 50th ave.

The only bad part is 5the ave from elbow to 17th where they really need to finish the bike lanes.
