This is probably the best place to post this:
I finally took possession of this:
This is a wood lathe, made by my great grandfather on my dads side, owned for many years by my grandfather on my mom's side, and after he passed away, my dad's sister bought it at the auction that was had. That auction was 22-23 years ago, and the lathe is significantly older than I am.
I got it into my garage last weekend, and yesterday, I put the motor on, replaced a broken pulley and put a new belt on, and started fixing up the worn wiring. I need to build a stand, and actually learn how to use it safely. The thing weighs 150-200 lbs as is.
I need to find some tools as well, and I'm looking forward to playing around with it. When I ran it a little bit yesterday, I imagine it was the first time the motor has been turned on in years.
