Get to know an animal on their level and terms. Speak their language, and understand their communication. It's really cool. I've known horses and dogs and a couple big horn sheep but just for an afternoon. It's a profound experience and changes your perspective.
Experience artistic creation. Your media could be anything but the process is the same. Time disappears and it's like your work is directed from a source other than your own hand. My favorite experiences as a writer were like that, no idea where the story was going and absolute surprise when it finished. That's the good stuff.
Go climb a rock. Nothing like the threat of a death fall to wake you up. It's also a fantastic excuse to safari the continent for a summer. I've been to Palm Springs many times and can find my way around but I know Joshua Tree intimately, boulder by boulder, route by route, hold by hold. It's a sport but also an expression.
Travel but know where and what home is. The thrill of traveling is seeing things once that you'll never see again. When you've found a home, seeing the same things over and over is just as thrilling. I see the same places in the mountains every year for the first time.
Fight for something. Maybe not the best bucket list entry but it's good to know your own boundaries.
