All good points, and if the Flames are going to have to settle for a goalie, Smith could work.
But there is a downside. Mike Smith will join Ramo, Hiller and Elliott in the parade of C+ goalies that have been here since Kipper. It's like Tabaracci, Wreggett, Fuhr, Braithwaite all over again.
I'd almost rather trade for one of the younger back ups even if the cost is 16OA. It's tough to give up a 1st but it could actually fix the problem for the next 7 or 8 seasons.
Or they could do both. Get a vet, like a Smith or Mason type and trade for a younger goalie who shows promise. Like Grabaur
