I'm not sure I like that strategy. In a few years the team's core will be in its prime and earning big bucks. The team will need a steady influx of decent players to come in at entry-level salaries and play a role. The Flames should be drafting low-risk guys with a high probability of cracking the NHL as bottom six / bottom pairing role, rather than swinging for the fences with guys who have a high ceiling but are less likely to make the NHL.
