These species makes up less than 10% of the ticks in Alberta and apparently don't reproduce in Alberta. No cases of Lyme disease are believed to have been acquired within Alberta.

I know a guy who just got diagnosed too. It's such a hard diagnosis. He has no idea where he got the tick bit.
