This a 6'3" 240lbs man who skates like the wind, hits like a mack truck and scores 33 goals in a "down" season. 6 Richard's and 3 Hart's. The greatest goal scorer of our generation.
I'm ok giving up a few futures for the legit opportunity to have this team go from the walking stage to the running stage over the next 4 seasons. Plus, 4 years from now, the only member s of the Flames current core who would be 30 or older are Gio, Backlund and Brodie (who would be just turning 30), so it wouldn't be the last of our opportunity to compete. We'd STILL have a strong core at that point to retool with.
Although, I have to reiterate, I'd be scared ####less of the Russian factor, and the Olympics and all that.

Fair we will have to agree to disagree. Ovi has been great and he has a long list of accomplishments but he also has the distinction of not being able to get his team over the hump. He also is past his prime so we can't assume he is going to suddenly bounce back to being a 50 goal guy.
I am very much for trading for him and even taking the full contract on however we can't do that AND give up a young core piece that we as fans had to suffer a long losing season to acquire.
