The offer in the rumorbreak tweet gives the Caps more than Ovi's current worth. I think some people view his value based off the past. I don't think he carries much more value than Kessel at this point and he was moved (salary retained) for a couple nice prospects, a pick and cap dump.
I think Bennett could break out for 50-60pts next year. Too soon for the Flames to cut bait but if they did he should not be traded for a 32 year old making $9.5M
Caps come out of that deal with $7M in cap space (assume Bennett signs for $2.5) they get a 21 year old former top 4 pick coming off a typical sophomore slump, a solid D prospect and multiple 1sts. Way too much for an aging winger. This isn't a top Dman or centre here this is a winger that is the 4th highest cap hit in the league and could not get his team beyond the 2nd round throughout his prime
