Much better chance LV takes either Stajan or Bouma for free than anyone trades anything for them. Failing that, the only realistic thing I see to the Flames ridding them right now is a buyout for Stajan & burying Bouma in the AHL.

I wouldn't say Stajan is on his last legs, he just had his 3rd most productive full season as a Flame, playing limited minutes.
When looking at the Free agent centers available, he'd sit tied for 8th in points, playing fewer minutes on average then any other center ahead of him.
The Capitals have only 1 true Center under contract in Backstrom, and then Ellers and Johansson who play all forward positions. Stajan would actually be a great add as a bottom 6 center for them, as he's a heart and sould guy, willing to play whatever role he's asked and from all accounts, is great in the locker room as a leader and mentor and loved by his teammates.
Bouma while very overpaid, is a guy that leaves it all on the line, and again, the caps have holes to fill, Bouma can be a solid fourth liner.
The big win would be the additional assets in Picks or Prospects for the Caps, and the fact that both Bouma and Stajan are off the books next year, which means they shed a tonne of cap space over the next season.
