Of course the Flames should get Ovechkin. But that's a pie in the sky dream. 1st off, the entire idea of trading Ovechkin has been a media driven speculation. And why not? He's simply not going to make a final as long as the Pens exist in the east. Easy to see why the media would spin this one up. 2ND: The Flames simply don't have the ammunition to pull off that kind of trade assuming that any of the core foundation players are not moving. You can list any of the top 4 forwards and at least fifty percent of the fan base would squirm.
3rd: The caps can't trade Ovechkin for his full value because of his cap hit. He's a lifer in Washington solely based on Marketability. Having said that, Subban should have been unmovable as well with his community ties.
Would it be amazing to have Ovechkin on the Flames? Oh hell yes. And I'd call out anyone who wouldn't want Ovechkin anchoring that top line RW slot. But there's just no way it happens.
