The only difference is he might have thought that it wasn't against the law to drive hammered on drugs even if it was stupid, I am old enough to remember when no one really cared about driving drunk, the consideration was just whether you could get the car back home in one piece.
That said Woods can afford to catch a cab, unlike me and my mates back when we were teens so really he has even less excuse, he didn't even have to go pick the car up the next day, he has PA's for that, and no doubt he has more than one ride, this is just a wholly idiot move on any level.

Has it been confirmed that he was somewhere else when he took the medication and was on his way home or did he take the medication at home and so looped he decided to go for a drive? Apparently he just had fusion surgery on his back last month so it is possible he doesn't have a prescription problem and simply erred by taking too much or in combination with other medication.
