There is little advantage to buying out Bouma.
Say you do buy him out... 2/3 of his contract over twice the amount of time would have him eating 726K off the cap this year (and next). But then you factor in the replacement that you're eager to get into the line-up in the roster spot vacated (let's say... Jankowski) that's an extra 925K. You end up saving a grand total of 549K this year (with a debit of 726K next year). Hardly seems worth throwing a potential wrinkle into next year to save such a relatively small amount on the cap.
Besides which I tend to think that if you're willing to eat money on a deal you could probably find someone who would give you something for Bouma.
