In his fifth year of his contract, as a 34 year old, Hartnell put up 13 goals. That's quite the decline in 5 years and I wouldn't necessarily use it as any form of support for Lucic's seven year contract.
Lucic put up 20 goals the season prior to getting his seven year contract. I know it's a pretty stupid way to look at things, but if he declined at the same "pace" as Hartnell, the last years of his contract would see him putting up 7 goals as a 34 year old....with a 6M cap hit.

Even if Hartnell is breaking down in his 35 year old season, it's not like he did at age 30 or 31.
The point is that Lucic probably won't start his decline until 31-32 and then it will be gradual, not 50 points to 4th liner in one offseaon.
