If anyone watched the Oilers/Ducks series they'll know Sam isn't moving. The Ducks beat the Oilers based on the type of skill Sam delivers. A difficult player to play against that can score at will. The Oilers couldn't handle it in the end.
Sam is far from a lock to be a Perry or a Getzlaf but if he does he is the best shot to take on the Oilers. The more grit against McDavid the better.
Don't kid ourselves. The Oilers as pathetic as they are are back in the game by winning multiple lotteries. We can debate the honor in that in another thread. It is what it is and Sam is what we need to counteract them.
Given his potential I would say he is going no where. He's needed here. Another defenseman in the pipe is not what we need big picture wise.
