I'm referring to the rise of white nationalists and the new right. It has effectively emboldened these people and given them more courage and passion. Anyone who is concerned with the state of Islam should also be concerned with growing Western hate organisations.
This guy had a fairly substantial support system and toxic community, but he'd easily be laughed off. It's the banality of evil that makes it so dangerous. It starts with people who say/post a few questionable things, while society allows their bigotry and hate to slowly ferment. What starts off as benign seemingly transforms into something cancerous and dangerous.
I feel like we're going to see a rise in home grown terrorism in the West that will rival anything we're seeing now from groups like ISIS.
