Did my first metric century this weekend - canal path out to Chestermere, down to Ralph Klein Park and back downtown via Bow pathways. 114km...or as I realized later, I basically did my longest ride ever (68km) and then rode another 46.

Getting from RK park past Stoney sucked. 114 ave would have worked fine, but I was hoping to stay in the country as opposed to industrial. 3-4 km on dirt roads weren't a huge problem, but getting through the fortress walls of Mahogany (plus construction) back onto the Greenway was the challenge. Had to ride wrong way down the Stoney exit to 88th street (essentially an exit to nowhere right now, so no traffic) then cross a bug infested median. After navigating some more suburban hell, the pathways on the ridges in Cranston were quite nice.

Canal pathway was interesting. Bumpy/humpy for the first few kms near the Bow River, then unremarkable industrial surroundings (with a lame little detour around Glenmore), but excellent ride as you approach Stoney Trail and beyond. Never knew it existed, just stumbled across it on Google Maps.
