When I had Bluesky TV installed, the rep told me this story.
1. Bluesky TV is a shared venture with a certain USA cable company with very poor customer service ratings in North America. (Comcast I think was the company he said)
2. Shaw has one of the best customer services ratings in North America.
3. Joint venture really was a trade:
- Shaw wanted cable software and hardware because they have something like 500 guys in Canada working on all their stuff vs 15,000 on the other company working on the US version of the Bluesky tech alone (XFinity? Again, forget which cable company).
- Cable company wants good customer service ratings, so Shaw offered that service to help fix their image in that area.
I am not sure if the CSR hirings and cable company with Bluesky agreement are the reason for the expansion of CSR, but it's an interesting thought either way.
Misc: Certain streaming apps may soon be compatible with Bluesky, but it's all legal hurdles and making agreements with those companies.
