NHL teams don't "take a cut". This must be your first CBA. That has provided me with some insight into your threads and takes. Thank you for that!

All NHL related items are negotiated into or out of hockey related revenue. This number is important because the NHLPA and the NHL use this number to establish Salary Cap Ceilings and Floors.

Non hockey related revenue is important because it helps to run the organization outside of player expenses. Things like Parking and Concession sales likely accrue to the owner/operator of the facility, and this is usually (but not always) the organization that owns the team.

What profits exactly are maximized? And what do you mean by "we must be cyclically bad"?

If you have spent any time on this forum reading, you will know that many Flames fans debate how best to draft, develop, and trade to advance the team in a salary cap world. Other team forums debate exactly the same thing.

If you want historically bad, terrible cycle development, i'll politely ask you to do a review of the last 11 years of your "other" team, the oilers. While you are at it, why don't you look into the justifications for the new arena especially around non hockey revenues.

You aren't going to like this next part...but perhaps you could spend more time reading and absorbing some of the excellent and knowledgeable writing on this site.
