For ####'s and giggles I thought I'd group together of the most likely guys who could "pull a Talbot" and become a solid starter who has primarily been a backup. I didn't include anyone over 28 or guys with over 100 GP.

Philipp Grubauer (25y)

Calvin Pickard (25y)
Career Numbers: 28-44-6/ 2.77 / .914

Joonas Korpisalo (23y)

Juuse Saros (22y)

Contract: Signed until 18/19 with AAV $692,500

Louis Domingue (25y)
Career Numbers: 27-35-7 / 2.88 / .910
Last Season: 11-15-1 / 3.08 / .908
Contract: RFA (AAV $1,050,000)

Aaron Dell (28y)

Darcy Kuemper (27y)

Last Season: 8-5-3 / 3.13 / .902
Contract: RFA (AAV $1,550,000)

Anders Nilsson (28y)

Last Season: 10-10-4 / 2.67 / .923
Contract: UFA (AAV $1,000,000)

Mike Condon (27y)

Last Season: 9-12-3 / 2.92 / .903

Keith Kinkaid (27y)

Last Season: 8-13-3 / 2.64 / .916
Contract: UFA (AAV $725,000)

Rantaa and Grubauer seem to be the best options, I like Grubauer a little more since he has better numbers and is a little younger, although the acquisition cost would be higher. Dell also had a phenomenal season. Pickard has less than desirable numbers but he did play for a godawful team, however Kinkaid also played for a bad team but has more respectable stats. Saros is Nashville's heir apparent so that is probably a pipe dream. I really don't like Hutchinson's play in Winnipeg and Keumper had an awful year in Minny. Condon is interesting and the acquisition cost there is zero.

Personally I like this route better vs. grabbing an established guy to hold the fort for Gillies/Parsons. If neither guy pans out, we're back to square one, but if you get a young guy now and he becomes a good starter and either Gillies/Parsons also pans out, having 2 legitimate starting goaltenders is a nice problem to have.

Thoughts?
