I thought just before he orders the sub to shoot down the base they were loading some heavy equipment into the sub. I thought that might be the creation machine. I expected that Ivanov would ensure that he saves anything that could reconstruct his body and make him human again.
On another note I am very excited to see the return of Ghost Rider. Fitting that he caps off the season instead of just a first pod and gone. He is the only one strong enough (in the SHIELD characters) to fight the Darkhold.
Now that Aida is human/inhuman I expect she also has a "soul". With all the evil she has done I would think she is ripe for a pretty devastating Penance Stare.
