The Murray/Fleury situation isn't really that different from a team forced to move a UFA they can't afford to re-sign. Theoretically a team always has the option to move someone with a good contract (because players like that can always be moved) to make cap space for the re-signing. It doesn't happen, because it's an extremely stupid idea.
Teams will rather lose less valuable assets for nothing than move their most valuable assets. Just like Penguins will rather trade Fleury for peanuts than trade Murray.
If they move Murray, it's because of how they see Murray and Fleury, not their trade value.
Besides, Fleury can absolutely be traded. He has to provide 18 teams he can be traded to, which is a lot of teams. Unless his list is mostly about geography, Calgary is going to be on his list of potential trade partners.

I don't agree with your take on this. This is a highly unique situation where a team could lose a valuable asset for nothing if they don't play their cards right. Now that won't happen but they may be forced to buy Fleury out. How many teams need a starting goalie and do not have a young goalie to protect? Dallas and Calgary are the only ones I can think of. Dallas has likely been taken out of the equation with Bishop likely signing there.
You assume Fleury would welcome Calgary I am not so convinced. You also say another team will trade for him but who?
This is a highly unique situation. Murray has been incredible but also has an injury history. Fleury is still at the top of his game and the Pens have Tristan Jarry in the system. Moving Murray could result in a Bonino replacement, top 4 D, and/or a 1st round pick (Pens have traded their last 4 1st rounders). Fleury brings back very little considering the market might be Calgary and the hated Flyers (who may not want to lose Neuvirth)
