Textcritic summed up my thoughts by saying your comparison is off. It is more like keeping Gio over Hamilton. Both are top pairing valuable Dmen but one is 10 year older than the other which is the same thing with Fleury and Murray. If the Flames had to move one of their Dmen but Gio with the NMC (hypothetical) was going to return far less value than Hamilton who the Flames could shop leaguewide and fill another hole they might look at it.
Jarry has some great AHL numbers as well so the Pens might even have a goalie that could replace Murray down the road. I agree they likely find a way to move Fleury and keep Murray but if MAF wins them a cup this year I could see all bets being off
