I hate seeing star players go down but some fans need to understand that with less than half a second to think, you too would stick your hands up to avoid contact at someone sliding towards you.

I disagree, he was planning to crosscheck him no matter what happened. He is a dirty player always has been and always had issues with Crosby.
You don't toe drag out of position like that with your stick up unless you are expecting to rock someone.
