Backstrom has been a fantastic first line center and I suppose he and Malkin could have emulated the success the Penguins have had with two elite centers. I'm not sure if you can blame it on Ovechkin though. He's scored at a really good clip in the playoffs and it's really the team around him that's failed to rise to the occasion most years. If Holtby matches his career average playoff numbers it's probably the Capitals leading this series 3-1. He's the reason they are losing this series IMO.
