I think the issue was Brooks. That may be the fault of Haslett (or the GM) for not sitting/replacing him, but it sure does look like Brees has made one heck of a difference. I'm sure having a true home field this year helps, but not for the turnaround that has happened so far thsi season.

I think it was a bit of a combination of things. After about game 8 and having no home field I think it really took a toll on the Saints. I also think Haslett and Brooks also wore out a bit. They always had a reasonable defence, and a pretty decent running game with McCallister.
Unreal to think that every NFL team had 6 chances to draft Colston and passed him over because "he didn't have much speed." I don't know how the Saints would do if they were an AFC team, but I think they're as good as anyone else in the NFC.
