He could easily play 1st line minutes and not look out of place. A line of;
Gaudreau - Jankowski - Ferland
would be every bit as good as;
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
The problem is we don't know if Monahan can excel without Gaudreau. There isn't a single glaring weakness in his game No reason that he should be on the 2nd or 3rd line with Bennett next year. Ideally I want to see these lines.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Benett - Lazar
Jankowski - Backlund - Frolik
Bouma - Stajan - Chiasson
No point in going after a #1 RW at all. It's a waste. Oshie is looking like Brouwer 2.0. Unsustainably high shoot percentage on Washington.
We have 3 guys that can play RW and I think we need to see is Ferland can be a 20-25 goal guy on that 1st line and see if Lazar can find his offensive game. I truly think a Tkachuk Bennett and Lazar line as our 2nd line could be both a physical force and possibly score more goals than our 1st line.
Its imperative that our 3rd line be matched up against our opponents #1 line as much as possible next season.
All 3 players on a Jankowski Backlund Frolik line have the ability to play extremely great 200' 2 way game.
Signing a guy like TJ Oshie really does nothing for us but push our young guys down the line up. We need to give them an opportunity to play. No reason Lazar or Ferland can't score 20+ just like Oshie.
