It truly disgusts me how unkempt and disgusting our society has become. It didn't matter how rich or poor people were, up until the 1960's people always attempted to look good in public. Even poor paperboys had a nice vest, pants and a hat. People wouldn't be caught dead in public looking like trash. Today? Hit up the people of Walmart for a selection of the worlds finest fashion. What happened? Where did everything go wrong? What is wrong with demanding that people take a little pride in themselves?

"Demanding" that people dress to your no doubt impressive standards is your own issue that will be probably a source of lifelong frustration, but maybe should just
not go to WalMart.
I wasn't around in the 60's so I can't from personal experience recall how the paperboys dressed in those days, but I'm pretty sure that they weren't all snazzy with nice vests, pants, and hats.
Are you sure you aren't mixing up reality with silent movies, or "Li'l Rascals"?
