Whoever we end up getting, it's basically guaranteed that the fan base is going to turn on some point. Realistically almost all goalies who aren't part of a Stanley Cup contending team showed major lapses throughout the season as the rest of the team wasn't good enough to cover for it. Dubnyk near the end of the season, Lundqvist in the middle, Price in the middle, Bishop/Vasilevsky, Andersen and Allen in the beginning.
The hope of getting a rock who's stable from October to May is probably unrealistic without getting lucky with a Talbot or Bobrovsky. Can only hope that we have somebody who's able to put in more good showings than a 3rd of the season like Elliot, a strong backup either in Johnson or Gillies. Hoping for the long term in either Gillies or Parson it's probably best to find a way to get a veteran guy like MAF or Bishop ideally on a short term deal if possible.
