Fancy thermal pictures are not worth the money. Bring a friend or family member in the know to check things out. If you can't see an issue with ur own eyes, the inspector won't either. If you need to lift insulation to see underneath it, you can do it but the inspector is not allowed.

Try to get a copy of a report from someone you know. You will quickly see how little they reveal.

My opinion.
I've had them done before, I know they don't check codes etc. I'd probably prefer to just have a piece of mind of what they've checked vs what I've missed.
