I'm getting sick of the officiating from top to bottom. This attitude of 'backing your guys' and never overturning has got to stop. People make mistakes, the game is fast and messy, so as a fan I can forgive them. However if there is technology in place to allow thorough review, there's no excuse.
That caps goal should've stood and I don't think anyone who wasn't a leafs fan would disagree. If the ref had overturned along with 'goaltender was initiating contact' then that's done, people can understand the call.
The NHL and refs have zero accountability (unless Wideman is on ice), the hockey operations explanations are, without fail, vague and achieve absolutely nothing.
Lastly (forgive the rant), if the NHL really cared about getting the decision right then there's technology available that'll get you a definitive and correct decision. I bet it'd get you that decision faster than the review process as well. If the NHL don't want the tech to take over the game, that's fine, just don't leave us with this poor effort something in between.
