I agree with everything in your post except for the last two sentences. The Flames sported a league-wide top-five record through the duration of three quarters of then season, and they had great possession numbers and on special teams to demonstrate that their play was more than just a couple of "hot streaks." Through three games of the playoffs they have not looked like a team that is down by three and has yet to win a game.
In spite of the results this is a very good team. You are right, though: Anaheim clearly has a mental edge that has absolutely flummoxed the Flames to this point. I still think that all it takes is one breakthrough. I thought it would happen last night, but if it does happen tomorrow, then I think the Flames will be able to win Game 5 in Anaheim. If they win that game all bets are off.
