I would argue that a broadcast crew is (or should be) the same environment as an accounting firm, right? These are professionals, and one of them had a lapse in judgement that crossed a certain line.

Two guys on the ice saying things that would make anyone else blush? Fair game, and I find it funny myself (which is why I always do it when competing in anything really, even a stupid board game), but a broadcasting team? That's different.
No, they're not the same environment. One is where only clients and team members work together in a private office setting. The other is a public platform with it's work being displayed and heard to at least hundreds of thousands on a nightly bases. The only similarity here is that the game was over so the job had transition from a public medium to private, the cameras and mic should be off, and the words and actions that occurred shouldn't have been broadcasted to an audience.

But we have to assume this person is not part of the broadcasting team. We're not even suppose to know he exists since he's behind the scenes.

His comments shouldn't have any repercussions. The Flames players are not going to stop playing hockey. Sportsnet is not going to lose out on broadcasting Flames games. We'll likely never hear this guys voice again, or even know who he is. There's no need for a follow up on a one-off incident.

What he did was irresponsible since with his job, he should be aware the mics may be hot. But his comments in the end are harmless and is not going to leave anyone in grief.
