I thought last night's game is the game we will stop the long streak at Honda Centre. I was happy with the way they played especially after that Tkachuk's double penalty. That seems like the time they woke up and the momentum turned to their side especially after the Backlund's shorthanded goal. Unfortunately we lost because of couple of dumb penalties by Hamilton and Brodie an unfortunate bounced on Bouma's skate. I was actually ticked off at both Hamilton and Bouma at first and really overreacted on Bouma as him and Hamilton cost us a game two game in a row. I also wasn't happy with him not burying those chances. Then I saw the replay so I thought that was unfortunate and you can really see it in his face while sitting on the bench when Flames are trying to tie the game.
As for Hamilton's penalty, yes it was dumb of him falling from Perry's bait. Clearly Hamilton were interfered on that play (no call) but no excuse to hold Perry's stick. Hamilton needs to be discipline with his game. Unfortunately he is one of those Flames player that you just can't punish by sitting him out a game because he is an important cog on defense.
On a positive, I thought Elliot made up for those two mistakes early in the game and kept us in the game. Backlund, Bennett, Frolik, Chiasson, Monahan and Gaudreau had a solid game. I also like the way Ferland and Versteeg's play. Brouwer not so much. His line with Stajan and Bouma needs to step up more. If you look at it, that line is probably is the most seasoned line in the team.
I am still not giving up though because Flames are playing at home the next two games. If they play like 2nd period and most of the 3rd period in Game 2 with physical play and with speed, they can beat the Ducks at home. Then bring the momentum to Anaheim and win Game 5.
