I'm probably done with NHL hockey after this year. Not because I'm angry at the Flames or don't want to be a Flames fan or anything like that. The Flames are part of my life in terms of being around since this team moved to Calgary back in 1980.

I'm probably done with the NHL because the league is just not a professional league. The officiating is atrocious and has been so bad to the point that its effecting competitive balance on a game by game basis.

I'm probably done with the NHL because its a game that now punishes physical play, and I'm not talking about fighting.

When something becomes really aggravating to watch and you expect that the product is going to be harmed or damaged in some way night in and night out by the league itself, then maybe its time to stop watching.

I had a friend who was a hockey fan for his whole life, he bought jerseys and flew out to Philly to watch games, and I hadn't talked to him in a while. But I had coffee with him the other day and I was going to give him some friendly trash talking about his team, and his response was simple.

"I don't care, I stopped watching NHL a couple of years ago, and I don't even miss it"

I'm at that point.
