I'll second that. Education apps and videos have been a big step up for my 2 kids. My daughter is in grade 2 and reads at a grade 6 level. My 4 year old already knows the alphabet and how to write each letter. She is working on reading by herself now too.
When your kids are in school there is always an app the teacher will use for home reading or other subjects to a kid having their own tablet will help.
