Seeing the punch coming or not is the pivotal fact that determines whether or not it is a sucker punch or not. Not being ready to fight while watching Ritchie telegraph the punch from the tenth row doesn't make it a sucker punch. It just makes you stupid for not trying to defend yourself after a player seeks retribution for a dirty play on a teammate. Answering the bell in the NHL is common on clean, hard hits let alone dirty plays.

It was dirty. Ritchie jumped him. It wasn't a sucker punch. If you chose to believe it was then you haven't read or understood the dictionary definitions of sucker punch.
