Well if the NHL whose league is the one Ritchie plays in and is going to suspended in calls it a sucker punch then really that's all that matters.
If Gaudreau slashes someone and a bigger player comes up and punches him in the face then Gaudreau should have expected it?
Ritchie does not get to fight someone or punch someone because he's mad at Perry being cross checked. He can do what 99.9% of what other players do and challenge him to a fight but if he declined he can't just say"well I'm mad and charging towards you so you better expect a punch to the jaw". He doesn't have to fight and him doing what you want for it to be considered fair would be him accepting a fight.
If a much bigger guy was challenging you to a fight would you drop your gloves? And if not, you'd expect to get hit in the face?
