IMO it is always better for prospects to earn accolades than not, even if they don't mean much in projecting them as NHLers.

I don't think it's fair to say they don't mean much. It doesn't mean a sure thing, but it does seem to mean much higher odds of becoming an NHL regular or even an impact player than on average.
Much higher odds is something.
