Sorry to hear... I can't imagine how difficult that was to write, but I hope it helped a little to get it all out there, and I hope some comfort is felt by all the obviously caring people in this thread.
My cousin was also diagnosed with Juvenile Type 1 Diabetes at age 16 and is now 46, living a perfectly healthy life with a 10 year old daughter and husband (in Calgary). It will take a while for your daughter to adapt, but the technology available these days should hopefully make it easier for her.
