It's the NHL's fault for instituting the stupid penalty rule for discarding your helmet in a fight.
I mean do we criticize Ferland for not taking his helmet off when he fought Bieksa? The rules are the rules. They take their helmet off, they get an extra penalty and the team suffers for it.
The problem is the rule. I know why the NHL put it in there, but even with the rule in place, guys still lose their helmet during a fight.
The NHL even put in the rule that the fighters can't agree to knock each others helmets off first prior to throwing punches.
They might as well just ban fighting.

Speaking of stupid rules the NHL has implemented regarding fighting, how nice was it to see Iggy and Engelland actually given the opportunity to square each other up and go rather than going full trench warfare as soon as the gloves came off?
