We have not even made a dent in penetration with solar technology or wind technology.

I am a realist, so I'm for nuclear, I am not for unreliable renewables which has failed everywhere they've been tried, in terms of becoming a major part of reliable, cost-effective grid. And because the biggest supporters of these renewables tend to be the biggest opponents of nuclear power.
I am also aware that even as coal declines in the US, it is still the #1 source of electricity in the world, the #2 source of energy and important for things like steel and concrete production, because it is cheap and easy to use, which is important for developing countries.

We have not leveraged cheap hydro.

Cheap, available hydro has been leveraged everywhere where it's possible.

And we have not even begun to push for new nuclear power generation.

Much of that is from protests who think solar and wind are enough. Plus the same economic factors that are affecting coal in the US have affected nuclear plants.
