I watched Brouwer about ten minutes into the period where there was a scrum for the puck along the boards and he literally took a break by standing upright and leaving one hand on his stick. If the puck popped out he would have looked ridiculous.
Taking breaks in the middle of shifts isn't acceptable at the NHL level, and watching him more carefully over the past weeks this is very prevalent in his game. Many are attributing his drop in production to a lack of skill, but I disagree, he's skilled enough to contribute in our top six, but is refusing to put in the effort. That's more concerning and frustrating than a lack of skill, imo.
