It's a set play. The puck carrier is skating towards you, so you as the defenceman are skating backwards. When they drop it back like that, everyone needs to stop skating backwards and start skating forward to get back into position at the blue line. As they are skating forward, Gaudreau comes charging at them and uses their own momentum against them.
More and more teams are starting to use it as a viable zone entry on the PP. I'm not a fan, but can't deny it works more often than not.
