I generally agree that Kipper was over worked though. I do no think it necessarily follows that Cam Talbot will play poorly in the playoffs this year because he has played a lot of games.
Fair enough. Think about it more in these terms:

Cam Talbot looks like a good bet to play his 80th game of the season in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs. He will be facing off against either Jon Gibson, Martin Jones, Brian Elliott, or Corey Crawford. Most of those goalies will have played less than 65 games before the end of Round 1; Martin Jones could play as many as 72 games before the end of Round 1.

With this information in hand answer the following two questions:

· Which goalie is more likely to be fatigued by the end of Round 1? The one who has played 80 games, or the one who has played less than 65–75 games?

· Given the choice as a coach or GM, would you prefer to enter the most important game of the season with your goalie having started 80 games or 65 games?

I think recent history shows that towards the end of the playoffs when the vast majority of goalies are playing in their 80th game or so, they are more likely to suffer from fatigue.
