Trump's ego won't allow it. He'll give Spicer some BS story to trot out about how he was speaking metaphorically or joking or possessed by ghosts and then move on to the next stupid thing he says without ever having to admit he made a mistake. The investigation will "conveniently" be roadblocked until it's no longer worth anyone's time to continue pursuing, and that will be the last anyone hears of it. Par for the course with this guy.
