While his signing there was self-inflicted, the complete lack of any notion of a professional franchise, player development, career counseling, buffet table etc. existing in Edmonton isn't exactly his fault. I'm not sure how many young players would have enough inside information to realize that Edmonton was a malignant tumor on the healthy body of the NHL.
I still feel bad for him, as I do Dubnyk, Gagner, Cogliano etc. etc. etc.
