Not necessarily true. The Flames probably realize that should an injury occur down the stretch or in the playoffs that they will need Wideman to step in. So telling him to stay home or stay away from the team doesn't really work.
IF he is acting up and creating problems, the coaching staff has no choice but to try and reel him in, cause he may be needed.
