There was an update on this story just a few minutes ago on CBC. The woman went to the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa this morning and they apparently told her that she shouldn't have been denied at the border, and that they don't know why it happened. They also couldn't give her a straight answer on why she would need to apply for this special visa if she's a born & raised Canadian citizen with a valid passport. |
This is so completely fd and scary. I was reading that Australia's secret service director was given the border treatment even though he has a diplomatic passport, although I could only find one article on it and wasn't sure of its validity.
Here in Victoria, the Victoria school board has suspended all school trips to the USA until further notice.
