I agree that if Brouwer goes unprotected, he is a likely casualty.
That doesn't necessarily make it a bad decision. He is a relatively unique player and not as easily replaceable as a run-of-the-mill 13th forward or 7th defenceman, but for 4.5mil, I'm comfortable we can get something of similar value on the free market.
In addition, if he is taken, it means we keep somebody who would have otherwise been picked up. We need to weigh the value of keeping that asset in the decision to expose Brouwer
